I replaced half of the front gutters a few months ago when they finally gave up the ghost and fell down. I thought spring was on the way and we'd have sun, but I saw the Ark go by and realized it was time to fix the other half of the gutters. Especially as half of the other half had fallen down.
New Camera, will it last
I got a new camera as I broke my Canon while flailing around at Smith Rock. Insurance is covering the camera to get it fixed, but in the meantime I need a smaller camera. The new one is water/shock/cold/heat/dust proof, supposed to be at least. It should do better in the cold for next years mountain attempts. The macro lens works pretty well and it holds up to my strenous test of dunking in a pint glass of water.
Crank Brothers let me down
After years of being let down by Crank Brothers Eggbeaters I have finally been broken by their failure. I would always tout their awesome design and tell anyone who would listen how simple they are and therefore are bulletproof. I broke a new pair in under 500 miles of easy riding, this time it was the 'simple' part of the pedal. When I went to the garage for a replacement pair I saw the 5 boxes of used pedals that I have gone through. That is beyond ridiculous and it's time to move on.
Lost
5 episodes down, 116 to go. Damn netflix will keep me up til midnight
Sara and Elan in town
Sara and Elan came down to Portland for the weekend. Sara made us an awesome chicken dinner and pomegranate martini. We paid her back by showing them the Waffle Window on Hawthorne.
Boxing
Ingrid and I have been taking a boxing class under Berg at her gym for a few months now. It's about the most fun you can have with a workout, many times better than yoga. I've always thought my boxing was weak (when I did hapkido in college) and it's nice to get proper instruction. About the only thing missing is actually hitting and getting hit.
Engaged
Date set for September 24.
